So there we were

you and me and

everybody

laughing at the jokes

making light

and steeling

little glances

you tried to say

goodbye

I tried to 

let it go

somehow it just

isn't working

I thought I told you so

and when they started

leaving then

you stayed behind

pretending 

to be my friend

But it was only you and I

we waited til 

we were all alone

I looked at you

in that way

you looked at me

the exact same way

and there was nothing

more to say

it's not working

and we can't let go

your eyes tell me

what I need to know

we're caught up
